I work in a closely related industry. We would not refer to Valeo, Bosch, or Siemens as OEM, because we focus on the source of supply. While those and other vendors may supply to the OEM, they make multiple versions of the same part in many case. On a BMW board discussing the X5, OEM would mean supplied through BMW, whoever makes the part. A part supplied by Bosch through a jobber would be an aftermarket part. It may or may not be identical to the OEM version.
