Took mine off too because I also heard it won't pass the smog test in CA.
I loved the way it looked tho.

Hey Ed,

Yep!! That was mine! In conjunction with the xpipe mod and my Supersprint exhaust it is perfect! Opens it up a tad in passing gear...nothing crazy! It does not turn our X's into Ferrari's but it's a cool mod..

damn never knew it would make you fail a smog test... thats crazy but ya it will only fit 01-06 4.4-48is (e53)

Went to the HQ of AFE in Corona today and they said all BMW's will pass the smog test. Only trouble is with the Ford Trucks failing smog; but he said just take off the air filter and you are good to go. No need to uninstall the whole setup.

The executive parking area had four bimmers in arow. Include a 6 series and a M3. The warehouse was busy, I am guessing if you don't have an AFE installed you are missing out on some good perfomance.

ok, once you do the smog test, let us know if you pass coz zerochief failed it when he had it on. You can PM him to confirm

Does AFE also says that you will gain HP in their site? Let us know how you feel once you install it.

Not to the lowly 3.0 unfortunately..

And my kids thought they had a Fathers Day present ready to go....

Oh well, some other mod will come along soon enough..
