Latest consensus on Bluetooth Phones?
I am looking for a bluetooth phone. So I might as well get on that is compatible with my 2006 X5.
Does anyone know of a VERIZON phone that works great with the X5? Does anyone know of a VERIZON phone that works poorly with the X5? For my purposes I am only looking for a Verizon only phone. |

I am having problems getting my Verizon XV6800 Smartphone working , It hangs on uploading phone book with pairing with my Z4. The BMW dealer told me they are aware of this and dont plan on doing anything about it.
Here is a list BMW has sent me , but my take is , why should I have to choose from a list of phones , they should all work, its only BlueTooth, right??? I guess my phone has a cavity or something tooth realated... http://wireless4bmw.com/compatible.pdf |

I have a Blackberry World Edition with Verizon and the bluetooth setup using the built in mic etc. in my X5 works AWESOME. In addition it copied the entire contact list over to the stereo.

In defense of this list and Bluetooth technology, You beef should be with the phone companies not with BMW or Bluetooth.. Motorola and others have been in such a race for "Smartphones" that they have all but ceased to standardiz the way address books and pone numbers are stored and retrieved on the newer models of phones. Bluetooth was designed to acccomodate a certain protocol the same as pc based synch software.. Unfortunately even some of this software has synch issues with certain manufacturers of certain phones and pretty much for the same reasons... Once a technology such as bluetooth is released, they can't exactly go back and readdress these protocol changes. Fortunately this can be done with software, but it is costly and many of these programs are only in the $20 dollar range so it beomes an issue for them as well. Mobile technology an capailities are expanding at a much faster rate that the PC revolution did and it is becoming very difficult for supporting technologies to keep up. I would not be surprised if bluetooth lives about as long as the Cd-rom did before Dvd's came out. |

I had the XV6700 and it didn't work well at all. I grabbed a RAZR V3 and it work immediately and very well. My BT is from Martin at Bimmernav, though. It's not factory installed. I also had a loaner 3-series a few months back that had factory BT and my RAZR paired up with it right away, too.
