What's the specific issue and is it only affecting the 3.0i engine?

I was told that the cylinder head is warped and other components are affected, and that it may need a complete overhaul or a new engine. Fortunately, the dealer and BMW back tracked and found out that there was a similar case to mine, and that BMW will cover all expenses parts/labor. My aftermarket warranty is no longer needed for this repair which will save me another $100.00 in deductible. I am very happy with what Morristown BMW and BMW did for me. I went down to the shop and personally thanked Mario Manfre (SA), for a great service. I'll just have to wait another week for the complete repair, which I don't mind since I have the X3 for use.

I was not told any specific details yet beside the ones I stated. I'll get more info next time I'll talk to my SA. I'll get everything in writing for my own record.

I got my X back today, and it's in excellent condition. Engine is running so quiet, and pulls much better. I'll scan the actual work done later and post it here, just so you can see what was done. Big thanks to Morristown BMW, specially Mario, and Steve for great service. It was well worth the wait.

Horray for a new engine on BMW's dollar!

Just shows how they stand behind their product when it really counts!

Here's a copy of the service report. I don't know if you'd be able to see it clearly.

How many miles were on your X when this happened? Did they say how the hairline crack on #2 come about? Did the car ever overheat?
