Did you try Openroad BMW on route 1. I got a decent deal from them but i could have done better.... but i was ignorant and did not know of x5world then. Since you are more informed you have a better chance of getting a steal

Good luck... and the key is be patient.... and dont be implusive when making a decision. This was my first X5 after driving camry for 5 years and my suggestion is test drive a few X5's (both new and preowned) before finalizing a deal so you get the feeling of German cars and not be impulsive when making the deal.

Regards,

Actually haven't tried them yet, thanks. Their online inventory seems to have higher mileage cars. I'm looking for something under 25K miles. I have no concrete proof at this point that there is much wiggle room for a low mileage X5, other than people telling me to hold my ground and wait for a bargain (which I have time to do). These places are all high traffic, just like Manhattan----where they are selling them as CPOs before the lease returns come in the door.

Yeah.... i think its because of the low APR offers on CPO. Lately i am seeing a lot of Beamers on NJ roads..... When i bought the car the sales person made me feel like "you are buying a BMW so dont penny pinch". I think this is their common tactic.... trying to make us feel like we are buying a premium car and being cheap at the same time.... dont fall for it.
Also the great deals that people are talking about here are mostly from websites or out of state cars. If you want to walk out of a CPO dealership with a decent car you might have to pay slighly higher than cars listed on ebay. This is my thought... may be i am wrong. I also remember reading here that someone got a good deal from morristown bmw.

Princeton, Denville, Open Road, had some of the highest prices for CPO X5's .... when we bought our X5 with under 19K we got the lowest prices from Difeo (tenafly) , Life BMW(Bkyln).... check it out.... its also a lot easier to make a deal over the phone then in person... because once you hang up they know you will likely go to another dealer... where if you went to the dealer you are now in their home turff... advantage the Dealer.... try it... I have purchased my last 7 veh. this way and I have always gotten the price I was willing to pay...

Or you can just email them (all of them), and then work with the ones that have the inventory you want. This way you still have the advantage. Don't get into the "stealership" turf b/c they are very good at wearing you down and then they go for the kill (and you're the meat!)

With 4 months, you've got lots of time. You should get more replys at the end of the month, and at the end of the quarter (end of Sep & Dec). They are trying to meet sales goals.

Seems like a lot of time and effort to be putting in to buying a car....but to each his own.

Some good advice already given here. Also, don't be afraid to buy out of state if the price/option is not available in your 'hood. Good luck

Just got a message from the Stealership

I was away from my desk and got a message from the Salesman and his boss---they wanted to discuss some numbers. I have not spoken with this dealer in a week....should be interesting. Time to get that low mileage 4.4 under 30K (I won't hold my breath)!!

Slightly under 30K would be an amazing deal.... there is no harm in trying.

Check when the car was actually manufactured? Warranty starts the day the car was completed assembly at the factory..... depending on that you could still have 1.5 to 2 years of original warranty + 2 years of cpo.....

Again this is according to me .... please wait for answers from experts out here....
