Need Advice-Close to Pulling Trigger on a 2006 X5
Please share your thoughts on the following, I'm very close to putting together a deal here....
2006 Black/Black X5 15k miles Cold Weather Package NAV Six Disk Changer $32,995 + 7% NJ Tax (1st 2 payments made by BMUSA), 2.9% financing over 5 years...4 yr. 100k miles warranty...... Is this a good deal? If this is their final number are there any extras I can ask for? Longer warranty, etc.?? Thank you!!! |

It is a 3.0 and it is off lease...it is from a corporate-run location (i'd rather not disclose, but you can probably guess)..i'd also note that cars.com has an average listing price on cars with these specs (cpo and non-cpo) at around 35k.....the 4.4s from 2006 are listed closer to 40k with lower miles .........am i doing my homework wrong or do i have a lot more wiggle room than i thought??

SUV's are not moving now. You'd be crazy to take the price the offer without at least making it hard on them. Especially since it is a 3.0 which has the exact same fuel economy as a 4.4 with a lot less power.

What is the aggressive line I need to use, to show them that I will buy today, but won't budge past a certain price? They are already at an advantage because they know I love the car, but doesn't everyone love these?

Bluffing
As the "Buyer" you are always at Advantage NOT the seller ..... therefore play hard to get.... you should not call them or visit the dealer until they reach you first.... i assume they have your contact info... its a matter of bluffing.... just stick it out... when i bought my 05 X5 I called 3 dealers over the phone showed i was interested in a X5 and waited..... after 1 & 2 wks the calls started to come in.... and I actually bought the X5 @ the price I wanted to pay..... simple... just wait.... they need to move the cars faster then you need to buy remember that.....

Go 4.4 at least or else you will always be wishing you had more power. SAME FUEL ECON as 3.0!

Sounds like a complete rip-off for a 3.0. I would tell them $28K, and let them haggle you up to $29,000. Don't go a penny over $29,000. They'll still make a healthy profit. Also, tell them to give you 0.9% financing, like they're doing now on the E70 X5s.
They may tell you the $32,995 is their final number, but it's all posturing. In the current gas price climate, SUVs are selling very slow and they are desperate to unload them. The only good part of their deal is the warranty. Four years, 100K miles is pretty good. |

Helpful...also
While I think the warranty is good and the best that they offer on CPO, this car is not an every day driver (5-7k/yr) and I'm buying it because I don't plan on flipping into a newer model in 4 years. That said, I am most concerned about years 5-7 of ownership; but there is nothing I can do about warranties until I reach that point, right?
